E. vermicularis is a small parasitic nematode of humans popularly known as pinworm that causes the intestinal disease known as threadworm or enterobiasis and has a high prevalence among the pediatric population. The diagnosis is made through the recovery of the eggs that are deposited in the perianal area and their subsequent identification by direct vision. Unlike other intestinal parasites, it is not recommended to look for E. vermicularis eggs in feces.
