RESIST - Rapid Carbapenemase Detection

Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) represent a major health concern and any diagnostic tool allowing to help their laboratory detection can improve patient’s safety. Until today, non-molecular confirmatory testings of the presence of carbapenemases of Class A (KPC) and B (VIM, IMP, NDM) have been available.

Coris launched the OXA-48 K-SeT in 2015, the first rapid test for the detection of the OXA-48 family carbapenemase.

Advantages of these kits:

  • 5 minutes hands on time
  • 15 minutes reaction time
  • Ready and Easy to use

The range has steadily grown to now cover tragets for OXA-48, OXA-163, OXA-23, KPC, NDM, VIMIMP carbapenemase detection.

Current methods allow detection of the carbapenemase from microbial culture or positive blood culture. Due in 2020 will be methods to allow detection from stool and faecal swab specimens.
